Old Vine Chardonnay
Beamsville Bench
This vintage of Old Vine Chardonnay speaks clearly to our motto “from these old vines.” The earliest plantings of our Chardonnay vines date back to 1978. The maturity of these vines and their offerings validate Ontario as a leader in producing traditional Chardonnay wines.
On the nose, notes of vanilla, caramel and flambéed bananas are most prominent. Flavours of fleshy lemon and stone fruit dominate, while a fresh minerality can be found layered underneath notes of ripe pineapple. Barrel fermented and aged for eleven months in oak, there is a long and smooth finish that balances out the initial fruit forwardness of this wine. That hint of minerality suggests that this is a wine that will continue to age beautifully for years to come.

WINEMAKER'S NOTES
This chardonnay was barrel fermented and barrel aged for 11 months in 1-2 year old French oak barrels to allow for the development of a richer texture while preserving the bright fruit character of the wine. This resulted in a wine with rich fruit forwardness and a bright acidity.
