Old Vine Chardonnay
Beamsville Bench
The estate vineyard here at Kew remains one of the oldest in Ontario. Protection from the escarpment, coupled with the vineyard’s undulations, creates a fantastic growing environment for the 60 acres planted. Our soil, which is limestone driven, expresses itself in almost every wine we produce.
On the nose this Chardonnay expresses notes of citrus and stone fruit. Notes of baked apple and candied orange peel dominate on the plate, fresh minerality can be found layered underneath notes of ripe pineapple giving away to a buttery finish with notes of vanilla and hints of oak spice and clove.

WINEMAKER'S NOTES
This chardonnay was barrel fermented and barrel aged for 11 months in 1-2 year old French oak barrels to allow for the development of a richer texture while preserving the bright fruit character of the wine. This resulted in a wine with rich fruit forwardness and a bright acidity.
