History
Located in the heart of Niagara on a 160 year old estate, Kew epitomizes country grace and style. To us, every visit should feel as exciting as the first and remain unrushed and intimate.
The Kew homestead is historically familiar with mixing business and pleasure. William Kew not only built the house in which the winery stands, but he and his family lived in the home and even operated a successful carriage making company from the house. And so, where the Kew family’s history ends, ours begins… We’ll fill you in on the stories that surround the Kew family when you visit us.
IN THE MAKING
In 1975, a Mr. Hermann Weis took on the task of planting some of Niagara’s first Riesling vines right on our estate. Bringing his own clones from Germany, Mr. Weis unknowingly became a true pioneer of Ontario’s wine region. Met with relentless skepticism, Mr. Weis forged on as the community said he could never do it, but we are sure glad he did.
