Barrel Aged Gamay Noir
Niagara Peninsula
Historically one of the oldest varietals, Gamay Noir is most popularly grown in the Beaujolais and Loire Valley regions of France. Much like those two regions, the rich soil composition and cooler climate of the Beamsville Bench create an ideal growing environment for the varietal to thrive.
On the nose, lively notes of cranberry, pomegranate and a touch of caramel are complemented by hints of violet and slate. On the palate, ripe raspberry and vibrant notes of white cherry deepen into rich plum characteristics. Beautiful acidity, notes of minerality and the faintest hint of pepper keep the finish long and structured. With such youthful acidity, this 2020 Gamay Noir is guaranteed to age beautifully for years to come.

WINEMAKER'S NOTES
Our winemaker, Philip Dowell, aged this vintage in older American oak for 12 months to preserve the Gamay’s natural fruit-driven character. A brilliant ruby in colour, this wine is elegant and approachable for all palates.
